Now here's a good one.

This article fascinates me.  What DOES make a "person" under law?  In our country, who's animal cruelty laws are woeful at best (slap on the wrist sentences for all but the most horrid offenders), you can bequeath amounts of money to a friggin cat in a will.  Does this make the cat a "person" under law.  I don't think so here, because when I think about it, isn't the money just earmarked for the care of the animal?
But in the above article, the intentions are far more noble.  I can see why the legal system is handcuffed here.  Where DO you draw the line for personhood.  The article is clear here that they are not talking about "Human", this is about "Person".  Most people with pets refer to them as children, so the line may not be as legally distinct as we think.  It's at least an interesting line of thought.

I love my Wii, I hate My Wii

Games bowled to reach "pro" status... 20, Games bowled to lose "pro" status... 1.  Sigh.  My arm hurts.  I do love this gaming system though.  Its rare that you find a gaming system that you can break a sweat while playing :)

My House

A lot of my friends have been doing this... So here's my house from Song of ice and Fire... no real surprises.

Your Score: House Lannister

72% Dominant, 36% Extroverted, 72% Trustworthy

Confident. Dangerous. Unrelentingly sexy. The master of all you survey, you are of House Lannister.

You are a dominant personality—and how! When someone asks “and who are you, the proud lord said, that I should bow so low?” your response is probably, “FUCK YOU! I’m a fucking LANNISTER, that’s who the HELL I am!” And then you’d pimp-slap them with your golden hand. All joking aside, you view leadership as your natural, god-given right; it is a trait, just like your golden curling hair and irresistible sex appeal. It’s who you are—a Lannister.

You are introverted, meaning that you prefer to keep your ambitions and devices to yourself. Unfortunately, your personality is so vivacious that (despite all your intended secrecies) you are still a very obvious person. Though no one knows what avenues you will travel, your destination is clear to all. And of course, yours is a road to greatness! You have a magnetic, polarizing personality: people either love you or hate you. They also probably find you exceedingly intimidating. Their fear is probably well-placed.

Finally, you are trustworthy. Does this surprise you? Remember your unofficial motto: “A Lannister always pays his debts.” Though you enjoy keeping secrets and playing games, everyone knows you are a major player. Underhanded tactics are so expected from you that they don’t particularly count as untrustworthyness—it’s more of a family legacy than a choice. Your promise is as good as the gold that you shit.

Representative characters include: Tyrion Lannister, Jaime Lannister, and Tywin Lannister

Similar Houses: Greyjoy, Stark, and Targaryen

Opposite House: Tyrell

When playing the game of thrones, you play it balls to the wall.

Statistical anomaly

So, anyone who knows me personally, knows that I play fantasy football.  My team name for 6+ years has been the Avalon Rapiers.  This weekend, I pulled out the ultimate in statistical anomalies.  I scored just 80.5 points this week. Which was 2nd WORST in the league.  Yet, I WON my game by 20 points.  So, I am going on record as saying I will be going for the "Luckiest Bastard" award this year.  I find that just damn funny.

Moments Prayer

It's always hard when someone playing high level pro sports get hurt.  But the injury to Kevin Everett is just plain scary.  Here's hoping that he walks again.

Long story short

Mom fell at work today and broke her arm to the point where she needs surgery. Please wish her a quick recovery and if you want to send her a card or well wishes, please contact me off the blog. Thanks for your support.

*edit : Just spoke with my Mom herself, she's drugged out of her gourd, but it was nice hearing from her. She broke the left upper arm, in a spiral break. She will be having surgery no sooner than Monday. So keep her in your thoughts please.

This DID happen on the job, so there are no insurance or major loss of wages to consider. And that's good, because it just lets her focus on recovery.

I love my mom.

Ummm, squeeee

It's no surprise that the apple company has chosen to create this.  But I still want it.  The timing with my extended benefits at work are fitting in REAL nice with the Sept 28th release date as well :)  Voodoo is happy.

Got to see Mom last night

Hooray!!!!  Mom had to service her car so made the trip from Kingman to Phoenix.  I got to take her to dinner last night and then we were stying in the same hotel so we had breakfast as well.  Always nice to catch up with the family.  I hope to get out to see Dad sometime in the middle of this month.  I'm going to try.
